This week, I have had the beautiful and talented Holly Everett staying with me. Together we created the setting for my Mother's birthday party, but more of that project is to come soon. This was a table cloth that we stencilled on on the first night of Holly's visit.
The stencil was JA56 enlarged to 400%. It had been stored in my garage for years and just fell open as I was looking for a stencil to work with. The pattern was large and easy to repeat. I had bought a king size bedspread to use as a table cloth and there was a lot of fabric to cover.
I stencilled the blossom and Holly added stencilled butterflies.
When all was finished, I used a pastry brush and food colouring to stencil Mum's birthday cake.
Holly's day job is designing furniture for her company, ModWest Furniture these are just two of her creations.
The Tumbleweed Table...
....and this fabulous modular building system. Tables, beds sofas shelving and more can be created from Holly's invention. Best of all, no tools are needed. Holly originally designed this system for disaster relief but with the addition of luxury fabrics and finishes it can fit with many interior styles.
There were many photographs taken of Holly and I over the birthday weekend, but I have seen none of them yet so the one at the top of the page shows us in California twelve years ago. She has not aged and I am wearing a hat so I thought it would work. More from us later.
