Have you ever made an 11 metre high flag, then another, then wrapped your neighbours large home in it?
No neither have I but I started the attempt yesterday with a courageous but equally clueless team of friends. My only credence is that my friend Holly helped Christo and Jean Claude wrap Central park in saffron fabric. However I forgot to ask her for advice.
First we rolled the fabric,
then I cut it,
then we assembled it into an approximation of the Union Flag with a bow in the centre.
It now awaits sewing. On Wednesday one flag gets attached to ropes on the front of the house. The other one goes up on Friday. They will cover both sides of the house. Factory Fabrics in Prudhoe helped provide us with acres of cotton sheeting in red white and blue. It's a brilliant place and I recommend all North Easterners to visit their stores when looking for fabrics.
Thanks to photographer Gill Jones for the photos with me on, she's in mine.

You bet I'll post final pictures...if we survive. It's for this Sunday. I am dressing the trees and the driveway with stencilled butterflies, friends have been helping me make them and local school children have decorated other butterflies with all sorts of stuff. Still got flags to stencil, queens heads are done. Weather looking dodgy for the weekend just hoping forecast improves, it's glorious at the moment.
