I am back to my office after several days up a scaffold in Cumbria, stencilling a ceiling.
A flood destroyed the ceiling of this beautiful room in a grand, English country house. The owner wanted it putting it back exactly as it had been. Chips made a stencil from photographs of the motif. I spent time researching and mixing the colours and made a sample board. The shimmer on the motifs had to sparkle and that was achieved using mica powder.
I worked with a very patient and conscientious decorator from Newcastle called Eddy. He and I had not met before this commission and at the end of two and a half, twelve hour shifts he was still talking to me! If you have ever stencilled a ceiling you will know how exhausting it can be. So, if you are looking for a decorator in Newcastle contact me for his details.
I hope that the home owner will be thrilled to see the decoration restored to its former state.
Helen.

Well, I know I am thrilled! The scale of the design, color and hint of mica makes it perfect. I do not envy the actual application though! LOTS of hard work to keep your pouncing the same consistency....can't have a heavy hand! Fabulous!
