My next project is to finish decorating the attic bathroom.
When Rachel lived here she stencilled the bathroom with a selection of designs from the Art Deco and the Japanese collections at The Stencil Library. We featured the room in 2007 and the photo is from that post. When she moved to her new home I saw no reason to change the decoration. Of course Rachel took her lace, chandeliers, cabinets and steamer trunks with her so I trawled the charity shops for furniture and knick-knacks to furnish the room.
Last week I coloured my Mum-in-law's dresser in stippled tones of magenta and raspberry glaze.
Then turned my attention to the display cabinet which I painted with Laguna Blue from Crown Paint.
For many years this cabinet has been waiting for a silver leafed Chinoiserie makeover and a place in my dining room. It will have to wait a few years more. The stencil inside the cabinet is VN52 Leopard Skin .
I intend to reuse the leopard print stencil to decorate the floor of the adjoining room so the pattern should provide a visual link between the two rooms. The Laguna Blue paint in the cabinet appears in the door frame of the adjacent room
I have a display trolly and a shelving unit left to paint. I think I will apply blocks of graded colour to both of them, then adorn the finished pieces with frothy, fern-like plants. I'll keep you posted.
