This weekend see the inaugural Cumbria Life Home and Garden show. I'll be giving a free demonstration in the exhibiion theatre at 11.45 on both Saturday and Sunday and the rest of the time we will be decorating pieces on our exhibition stand, including finishing this dresser that I have started to stencil with SIB21 an Art Deco stencil.
We will have stencils, brushes, books and paints for sale. There are some very interesting exhibitors... sixty of them spread across four halls of the Rheged Centre near Penrith, Cumbria. I am looking forward to it enormously.
Cumbria Life teamed up with Buzy Lizzie garden design and Whitemore & Thwaytes interior design to put on what promises to be one of the biggest and best northern home and garden events this year.
Interior stylist, Sophie Robinson along with architect and interior designer, Daniel Hopwood, both judges on BBC 2’s recent Great Interior Design Challenge, will be the guest speakers on Sunday....I hope they are not on at the same time as me. Eric Robson and team will be hosting a Gardeners Question Time.
I am keen to see the two 'shepherd's huts' built specially for the show by Woodstyle Joinery. I would love one to play in. They will be a kitted out by interior designer Maureen Whitemore and one of them will feature a living sedum roof by Wildroof landscapes. Maureen Whitemore is Cumbria Life’s regular interiors columnist and has been an expert in her field for over 40 years. I used to enjoy working alongside Maureen many years ago at exhibitions all over the country. As part of our presentation I would show how to stencil fabric then Maureen would demonstrate how to make that fabric into all sort of elegant home furnishings, it will be lovely to see her again.
The Cumbria Life Home & Garden Show 2015, is held at Rheged on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March. For tickets and more information use the link at the beginning of this post.
