Today we bring you a short blast of Art Deco stencil inspiration. The designs are DE318 and DE307 both from the repeating design section of our Art Deco Style range of stencils. Imagine them in your favourite colours, we can make them in different sizes too.
Recently Susi of Susi Bellamy Cushions and I went to the Maison & Object show in Paris. We both agreed that one of our favourite trends was large abundant, tropically flavoured foliage. It was used both as a print and as an actual indoor garden theme by way of realistic and deliberately not so realistic fakes.
It just so happens that we have two glorious tropical leaf stencils in our range. This wonderful cheeseplant repeat stencil VN128 Monstera
I think this particular look has been famous ever since it was used throughout the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel in the 1940s...it is still there and people who have seen it or know of it have been using the theme in their own homes ever since.

This is the bar with their world famous Martinique paper which is still available.
House of Hackney have been doing large leaf patterned prints since they started.
There is no denying that through time, large, abundant, lush, dense foliage has inspired us in many ways. We have always liked being surrounded by greenery whether real or not. I, for one, and very glad that nature has come indoors again.
A couple of weeks ago we cut and mailed this custom sized CH31 Chintz no 1 stencil to an address in North America.
I thought it looked rather wonderful at the double size so I took a photo of it. The same chintz stencil is now available from USA based stencil company Stencilease as well as from ourselves. Chintz no1 is among the first selection of our Chinoiserie stencils to be cut in the USA by Stencilease under licence from The Stencil Library. We cut our stencils individually and on demand therefore it is easy for us to accommodate special sizes for our customers; StencilEase will offer the same service on Stencil Library designs.
Their page shows Chintz no 1 in the usual size and have stencilled it in a restful combination of pale blue and brownish grey. This stencilled wall would be simple to re-create with a foam paint roller and looks lovely. I would be likely to stencil the same design with multi colours and artistic shading, that is the beauty of stencilling, once you have the tools to create your decorative finish all you need is time and imagination....or someone else who has those attributes. Stencilease will be adding more of our designs in the next few months. They will cut and despatch from their base in Connecticut to stencillers throughout the U.S.A. Chintz No1 is available from them now.
