Pattern can be evocative of a place or look that just doesn't really exist where you are. Fantasy, in a good way. For example, this coral design done in pale colours complimented by pale shabby chic furniture creates a sense of California or Florida by the sea. If you live in the UK, it is obviously neither California or Florida. But why not use your decor to create that bit of illusion. If you love Florida seaside chic, why not create an atmosphere of it in your home. Just because you live in a land locked bungalow in the middle of suburban England, doesn't mean you cannot live a bit of the dream if that is the style you truly love. Homes should be more than just a place to lay your head. I have always said they should fill you with comfort and joy the minute you walk in the door. This is why decorating the abode has existed for as long as roofs have. It is human nature to decorate and make the home pleasant. And it should be personal. So go forth and put a bit of California into Carlisle or Florida into Falkirk. Use pattern to create your fantasy world. The stencil used on the walls here is VN144 Coral No. 2 from the Natural World section of our Vintage Stencil range. We have also stencilled the cushions with a stylised coral design from our Modern Design range of stencils, MD50 Coral in the medium size.
