For those who want colour. And pattern. This is DE82 Repeat No. 16, a neo-gothic repeat pattern from our Arts & Crafts range. Gothic revival was an integral part of the Arts & Crafts style. The stylised floral and natural patterns fitted well with the Arts & Crafts ethos. We have gone for full impact here. It starts with a rich jewel colour wall, a colour somewhere between royal purple and sapphire. Then we have stencilled in black, scarlet red, orange, and white. The effect is called random swirling where you start with one colour and randomly swirl it over the surface filling in some of the design. Then you randomly swirl another colour into other areas and finally the same with a third and so on until the whole design is filled in. The effect is softer than when you pick out specific shapes in a particular colour and keep it regimented over the whole surface. The bold colour combination is not for the minimalist. This is unapologetic maximalism. Think of it as art covering your whole wall. To make this work in a room, it is important that the furniture and accessories balance well. So they should be quite minimal so as not to complete with the wild walls.
