This week Rachel and I learned that Grace Coddington is stepping down as creative director of Vogue to take a smaller role at the magazine and to pursue other interests. We have long admired her creativity...probably for a good chunk of the thirty years that she was at Vogue. We've hoarded pages torn from the magazine, bought the fashion books along with Catwalk Cats and her memoir, no doubt we will be ordering the new publication when released.
There have been a few times that her distinctive orange book jackets have appeared as props in our photographs.
The September Issue is a favourite film for both of us. It follows Editor in Chief Anna Wintour and the US Vogue team during their preparations for the 2007 fall-fashion issue. My husband loved it too... I think he had quite a crush on Anna Wintour by the end of it. Here is an excerpt from The September Issue featuring Grace Coddington at Versailles from YouTube.
Thank you Ms Grace.
