Sometimes I get very excited about a new stencil design and when I saw 'moths to a flame' being removed from the cutting bed I was itching to put the stencil to good use.
I still had two of my work placement students with me at the time so I offered them the challenge of stencilling the ceiling around a light. They did this with acrylic interference paints which are suitable for walls and fabric. The intensity of the colour changes with the light.
The 'Moths to a flame' stencil is designed to fit around a light fitting. The size can be altered if needed. Soon I shall re use my butterfly stencil onto a dress and I shall re employ some of the single motifs to fly in a haphazard line toward the central cluster.
Once the stencil had been cut I saved all the little cut out shapes in a bag with the idea of using them to create a frosted window.....when I eventually relocate the mislaid bag I shall experiment with this idea. The intention is to adhere the butterfly/moth shapes to the glass then spray around them with frosting spray. I will then peel off the shapes to reveal a frosted window with clear shapes of butterflies to look through. If you are ordering this stencil, you can request some cut outs too.
Love the way you used this around the light and what another great idea to recycle the drop outs!

Posted by: Denisa Ballard | September 22, 2011 at 10:42 PM
Hi Denisa, The stencil is forty four UK Pounds. UK postage is free, five pounds for Europe and seven for the rest of the world. You can have more than one item in your parcel, the postage is the same regardlesss of order size.
You can contact me through the blog, private messages do not get posted as I have final approval before publishing comments. I can issue a paypal request for payment or you can phone The Stencil Library office 01661 844844 and pay by card over the phone. I am working with the butterly circlet stencil in double the size at the moment. It is not as easy to use as the one that you like , however I will blog a picture of it very soon. I am also hoping to use it around a top of a skirt.
