Fauxology, that font of designerly, decorative inspiration are requesting pictures of your kitchen to show off in Kitchen Week. The deadline is March 2nd and details are here.
Cabinets with a rubbed finish of black over Chinese blue, lined in gold. Featured in Architectural Digest.Via Fauxology
Fauxology is looking for the kitchens that have something extraordinary. Something unique. Something completely artistic.
The results will be fun, inspiring and you may even win a prize. I like the picture of the black over blue kitchen that they feature. Black dragged or rubbed over blue gives a lovely, deep colour. See it on these examples around my home.
To mimick a display of plates try the Blue and White collection of stencils at The Stencil Library.
There is black and gold in my kitchen. Panels of glass and plastic have been stencilled then gilded.
It works well with the room which is old and bumpy. Though I am admiring this sleek, gold kitchen seen via DesignersBlock.
Incidentally, Di Overton the author of Designers Block blog has a fab kitchen... with a tree in it. Di, send a picture to Kitchen Week!
So, if you have been creative or artistic with your kitchen and have some lovely photos to share. Regina at Fauxology wants to see them. Hurry.
I remember the first time you featured those cabinet doors in your kitchen. I am totally obsessed with them! I have yet to find a place to do this technique, but it is filed in the back of my brain, just waiting to make some magic happen!

Thank you so much for sharing our search on your lovely blog. I can't wait to feature more artists & designers and their work during our Kitchen Week. Your kitchen is gorgeous -- love all the images, too! :)

Theresa there is an easy way and a more sophisticated(read complicated)way to do the technique. As usual the best result takes takes way more effort. I bet you would develop it further and come up with something fab. I am doing a private class on both gilding techniques next month, should be fun.
