Recently Susi of Susi Bellamy Cushions and I went to the Maison & Object show in Paris. We both agreed that one of our favourite trends was large abundant, tropically flavoured foliage. It was used both as a print and as an actual indoor garden theme by way of realistic and deliberately not so realistic fakes.
It just so happens that we have two glorious tropical leaf stencils in our range. This wonderful cheeseplant repeat stencil VN128 Monstera
and this palm repeat stencil VN165 Rainforest
Both from the Natural World section of Vintage range of stencils and both designed from single motif stencils from our Garden Room range of stencils should you simply want a single plant.
I think this particular look has been famous ever since it was used throughout the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel in the 1940s...it is still there and people who have seen it or know of it have been using the theme in their own homes ever since.

This is the bar with their world famous Martinique paper which is still available.
House of Hackney have been doing large leaf patterned prints since they started.

Large abundant rainforest foliage has even turned up on clothing. I love this dress from Dolce & Gabbana:

There is no denying that through time, large, abundant, lush, dense foliage has inspired us in many ways. We have always liked being surrounded by greenery whether real or not. I, for one, and very glad that nature has come indoors again.
