A kilim is a tapestry woven rug or carpet from the ancient Ottoman Empire region. It is a traditional style of weaving still created today and is usually made up of a combination of colourful geometric shapes. It is also an incredibly popular rug style throughout the world. Many a home has a kilim or Persian rug (or both). The colour and pattern work so well with any style of decor even though they are...colourful and patterned. So we came up with some kilim inspired designs like this one which we have stencilled the walls with. This is LD2 Kilim Repeat. It comes in two sizes and this is the smaller. It is part of our Ottoman and Moroccan ranges (so can be found in two places on our site). You paint the wall the colour you want the lines to be (in this case golden ochre yellow) and then stencil in the shapes (here in dark grey, light grey and cream). It is a simple geometric stencil that somehow manages to look neutral regardless of the colours so it, like the rugs, compliment a wide range of room styles.
