We always think horizontally when a border is mentioned. But there is such a thing as a vertical border and it is very effective. It can be used in different ways but I particularly like making stripes with them for an all over repeat pattern as here. This is CV14 Anglesey Border, one of three vertical borders from our New Classic Victorian range of stencils. It comes with one set of dots down one side (so that if you wanted to recreate this effect, you could), but you can either not use the dots at all or if you wanted a gap between borders, stencil in the dots only on the other side. Also, this has a repeat that also works as a motif so you can pull that out and use it in different ways. Once you start thinking about it, you can do so much with these borders.
